Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says he held back sensitive information from Rep. Adam B. Schiff of California out of concerns it would leak to persons who shouldn’t receive it.
After House Speaker Kevin McCarthy removed Schiff from the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday evening, the California representative took to TikTok to complain about the decision. On “Fox & Friends Weekend” Saturday, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blasted the “reckless” congressman.
“When we provided information to him and to his staff, it ended up in places it shouldn’t have been with alarming regularity,” Mr. Pompeo explained. “In the end, I decided, I held back information from them as a result.”
“Adam Schiff lied to the American people, and during my time as CIA director and Secretary of State, I know that he leaked classified information that had been provided to him. Now the fact that Adam Schiff was the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee almost ruined that committee.” he added
“He abused his position on the committee, telling the American people he had secrets that he couldn’t share with them. Well, the truth is, we now know that was all false.” he continued. “He had no secrets. He had to have known that he had no secrets. He put the Russian hoax on this country for two and a half years, and he shouldn’t be anywhere near the Intelligence Committee in Congress.” he added
Adam Schiff responded to the comments via a spokesperson, calling Mike Pompeo a “Failed Lackey”.
“Mike Pompeo is a failed lackey of the Trump administration”, the spokesperson for Adam Schiff said on Wednesday, after the former CIA director and secretary of state accused the Democratic congressman of leaking classified information.
“This is another patently false and defamatory statement from Mike Pompeo,” the spokesperson told reporters.
