ANGRY PROTESTERS DISRUPT AOC AMID PRESS CONFERENCE

September 21, 2023

Protesters upset that Mayor Eric Adams and the City Counsel are not doing enough to handle the situation booed and shouted down Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and others who attempted to hold a press conference in New York City to address the ongoing catastrophe of the migrant surge.

Fox News was additionally forced to cease its live coverage of the protests at one point because the demonstrators became too unruly and loud.

AOC and other local Democrats gave a speech in front of Manhattan’s Roosevelt Hotel, which has turned into a hub for asylum seekers. Protesters chanting phrases like “Send them back!” and “Close the border!” frequently drowned them out.

“Shut the border off! Defend the frontier! AOC, uphold the constitution! One man was heard at the ceremony shouting, “I am your constituent!” into a loudhailer, Fox News reported.

Before the man with the loudhailer shouted over Ocasio-Cortez, she added, “What we seek to accomplish is to ensure that all the resources are necessary and that we are joining with the city and state.

“Immigration that is illegal is wrong! Close the border and respect the constitution, he commanded.

The congressional delegation went there, according to Rep. Adriano Espaillat, D-N.Y., to “see for themselves what the migration dynamic is in our nation.” In addition, he noted that they had seen kids, families, and “people who want to work, people who are fleeing violence, people who are fleeing environmental disasters.”

“We witness the manifestation of so many tragic stories here. I believe that these people will make New York City a better place,” he added, as yells and screams could be heard in the distance.

Every crisis offers a fantastic chance. Espaillat said, gesturing towards the hundreds of protesters, “This is a tough matter, but there’s optimism and possibility in this building.

Along with Ocasio-Cortez and Espaillat, the delegation at the press conference included Democratic Representatives. According to Fox News, the individuals included were Veronica Escobar and Sylvia Garcia of Texas, Nydia Velazquez and Jerrold Nadler of New York, Jess Garca, Delia Ramirez, and Mike Quigley of Illinois, Jimmy Gomez and Tony Cárdenas of California, and Rob Menendez of New Jersey.
