On “The Five” on Wednesday, Judge Jeanine Pirro of Fox News sharply criticised Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for his “absurd” 34-count indictment against former President Donald Trump.
JUDGE PIRRO, JEANINE: There is nothing a defence lawyer can prepare for about this entire jurisdiction, statute of limitations, and factual insufficiency issue. It’s ridiculous, and let me say one thing about Alvin Bragg: in my opinion, he looked foolish yesterday. He stated, “We cannot and will not normalise serious criminal conduct.” Are you serious? In New York City, career criminals who are repeatedly released from prison are stabbing, beating, stabbing, brutalising, and killing people. Misdemeanours instead of felonies, unless you’re a Republican.
This individual lacks reality awareness and is pitiful. In the unlikely event that his case is dismissed, the only thing about which I am extremely concerned and curious is whether or not he has disclosed the underlying crime. If he’s a lawyer at all, he understands that this indictment is insufficient, therefore is he granting Georgia and possibly Florida the authority to prosecute the crime that he believes may also apply to them? Not subject to the double jeopardy rule? Are you understanding what I mean? So that he could essentially say, should the judge reject this, that way Georgia and Florida would have an opportunity to re-litigate that issue. I won’t identify it until I absolutely have to.
