President Joe Biden immediately overturned most of his predecessor’s strict immigration and border enforcement policies after taking office in January 2021. Republicans claim this has resulted in historically high levels of unauthorised crossings and the smuggling of drugs like fentanyl, which kill close to 100,000 Americans annually.
Doocy was ready to ask a question regarding the thousands of illegal immigrants that arrived at Eagle Pass, Texas, this week, when Jean-Pierre shot back, starting a heated exchange in which she yelled before moving on to other reporters:
