Three years later, when more information from the investigations into his son Hunter’s international business connections comes to light, Republicans are calling key statements made by President Biden during the 2020 presidential debates as lies.
During the 2020 presidential debate, Biden remarked, “My son has not made money in terms of this thing you’re talking about, what are you talking about, China.”
Following his father’s assertion, Hunter Biden defied him earlier this year by acknowledging in court that he had received $664,000 from a “Chinese infrastructure investment company.”
Hunter Biden was first introduced to his Chinese business partner Jonathan Li in the hotel lobby where the US delegation was lodging during a December 2013 trip to Asia with his father. The elder Biden would have coffee with Hunter on the visit, according to a recent behind-closed-door interview with Devon Archer, Hunter’s former business partner. In less than two weeks, Hunter would form a joint venture with BHR Partners, a private equity group funded by Beijing and under the management of Bank of China Limited.
Republican member of the House Oversight Committee Rep. Pat Fallon of Texas said on X on Wednesday, “Lie, deny, counter accuse,” beside a video clip of Biden’s assertion regarding his son’s activities in China. “The three principles of the Biden family influence peddling scheme!”
In addition, the House Oversight Committee disclosed information on Wednesday that purports to demonstrate that Biden obtained a personal cheque of $40,000 in ‘laundered China money’ from his brother’s and sister-in-law’s bank accounts. This information contradicts a previous assertion made by the candidate during a debate.
“I have not taken a penny from any foreign source ever in my life!” On the debate platform, Biden stated. “I have not taken a single penny from any country whatsoever, ever.”
Even if the cheque, which represented 10% of the $400,000 delivered to Hunter’s company Owasco, was actually a loan repayment, according to House Oversight Chair James Comer, “it still shows how Joe benefited from his family cashing in on his name — with money from China no less,”
Despite President Biden’s insistence that he never did business with his son, text messages obtained by Fox News Digital in 2020 showed that Joe Biden spoke with Tony Bobulinski and other members of Hunter’s business associates in May 2017 regarding the Sinohawk venture. The May 2, 2017 meeting would have occurred just 11 days prior to an email from May 13, 2017, which was leaked to Fox News in 2020 and discussed “remuneration packages” for six individuals involved in the CEFC business agreement.
One of the notes in the email says, “Hunter has some office expectations; he will elaborate.” “20” for “H” and “10 held by H for the big guy?” are mentioned in a proposed equity split. with no other information.
Bobulinski had earlier acknowledged in 2020 that the term “big guy” was a reference to Joe Biden Sr.
Contrary to the evolving narratives about Biden not discussing business transactions with his son, Fox News Digital has also reported on how Biden has met with over a dozen of Hunter Biden’s business acquaintances and that his business partners visited the Obama-Biden White House over ninety times.
The messages, which Fox News Digital was able to get, were discovered on a laptop that belonged to Hunter Biden. They highlight another, seemingly untrue statement that Biden made during the 2020 debate stage.
When Trump pressed Biden about the laptop on the debate stage, he responded, “What he’s accusing me of is a Russian plant.” “What he’s saying is a complete waste of words. Nobody believes it except him and his good friend Rudy Giuliani.”
