An increasing number of House Republicans are leaning towards backing an impeachment investigation on President Joe Biden, despite the opposition of a few GOP senators.
The change in opinions comes amid mounting evidence, the majority of which has been provided by various federal agency whistleblowers, that seems to indicate Biden and his son, Hunter, were allegedly involved in shady business dealings for years prior to Joe becoming president, possibly even including an outright bribe.
On Tuesday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) cited the accounts of two Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblowers and said that opening an impeachment investigation would help Republicans get important documents that reveal potential wrongdoing by law enforcement personnel in favour of Hunter Biden.
Elise Stefanik, the chairwoman of the GOP Conference from New York, backed that position as well. It is consistent with the attitude taken by Democrats in 2019 during the first impeachment of former President Donald Trump.
“I firmly concur with the speaker. Every day, more proof is emerging that this president and his family have breached numerous laws, yet they refuse to answer basic inquiries like, “What did your family do to receive the millions of dollars from our enemies around the world?” James Comer, the head of the Oversight Committee and a Republican from Kentucky, said, “So I think that’s something I would support. He said that Hunter Biden’s collapsed plea agreement would not change or effect his committee’s continuing investigations.
Many House Republicans are renewing their calls for impeachment and see the leadership’s rhetoric as support for their position. A resolution to remove President Donald Trump from office was earlier sent to the Homeland Security and Judiciary committees by the House on a strictly party-line vote.
The Daily Caller quoted Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene as saying: “The President is on record of lying. He claimed that he was unaware of his son’s business dealings. He has no knowledge of any of this, but it has been established that he lied to the American people; this fact cannot be disregarded, and we cannot dismiss it.
Therefore, it is literally the Republican conference’s job to start an impeachment investigation. And in my opinion, doing that is the proper move. Since Sen. Grassley released the FD-1023 report, which claimed that Joe Biden had abused his position to enrich his family and help foreign nationals, I have been asking for Joe Biden’s impeachment. Joe Biden must be removed from office right once if Republicans can prove their claims, she said.
