JIM JORDAN PROPOSES A MOTION TO DEFUND ALL TRUMP’S PROSECUTORS

June 14, 2024

Jim Jordan, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, released appropriations recommendations this week that call for “defunding politicised prosecutions.”

According to Fox News, the initiative is directed towards the prosecutors overseeing the charges against the former president Donald Trump. New York Attorney General Letitia James, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis are among these prosecutors.

Jordan asked Bragg and prosecutor Matthew Colangelo to testify last week on the so-called “kangaroo court” that produced Trump’s historic criminal conviction.

Jordan claimed that the House Judiciary Committee had “conducted oversight of the troubling rise in politicised prosecutions and the use of abusive ‘lawfare’ tactics to target political opponents” in a letter to House Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole.

According to Jordan, “rogue prosecutors” have violated “their duty to uphold the law and the rules of professional conduct in service of politicised ends.” According to Axios, “he suggested that the Appropriations Committee adopt language to zero out federal funding for federal prosecutors engaged in such abuse” and “to eliminate federal funding for state prosecutors or state attorneys general involved in such activity.”

Following last week’s guilty conviction on all 34 counts, legal experts predict that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against Trump will face “reversible problems” if it is appealed.

The former president, who is expected to be the Republican contender for president in 2024, was accused of 34 counts of first-degree business record fabrication. Despite Trump’s not guilty plea, a jury of twelve found him guilty on all charges.
