JIM JORDAN VOWS TO HOLD DA WILLIS IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS

May 4, 2024

Jim Jordan, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee (R-Ohio), is threatening to find Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena requiring her to provide documents pertinent to an ongoing panel investigation.

The Ohio congressman wrote to Willis on Thursday, according to ABC News, threatening to “consider taking further action, such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceeding,” if she does not turn over all the documents related to a House investigation into claims that federal funds have been misused.

Jordan served notice to the troubled District Attorney that she needed to turn on the materials by March 28. Jordan’s committee subpoenaed Willis on February 2 in order to obtain records about how her office used federal tax money.

Jordan emphasised that the committee’s goal is to look through documents that show how federal grant funding from the Department of Justice were received and used. In addition, the committee wants to examine any records that have correspondence implying that the aforementioned federal money were misused.

Following a decision made earlier this week by the judge overseeing her case against Trump, which dismissed six charges against the former president and eighteen co-defendants, Jordan has issued a second subpoena.

In his decision, Judge Scott McAfee stated that there is insufficient proof of “solicitation of violation of oath by public officer.”

The state has alleged an abundance of conduct by the defendants, thus the court is less concerned that it has not allege adequate conduct. However, the undersigned believes that the omission of information regarding a crucial legal component is disastrous,” McAfee penned, as reported by Fox News.

Concerning Willis, who is in charge of one of the four criminal proceedings against the former president Trump, there have been rumours circulating that she had an improper extramarital affair with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

The friendship, according to critics, creates a conflict of interest that could jeopardise the case. Despite the fact that Willis’ office refutes any financial or professional wrongdoing, there are worries that the issue would erode public trust in the prosecution.
