President Joe Biden allegedly put pressure on Attorney General Merrick Garland to bring charges against former President Donald Trump, according to a damaging dossier that has since surfaced again.
Originally published on April 02, 2022, the New York Times piece has gained prominence on X, formerly Twitter, due to the growing number of legal suits brought against the former president.
“Democratic allies of the White House and, at times, President Biden himself have become frustrated with the attorney general’s deliberate approach,” reported Katie Benner, Katie Rogers, and Michael S. Schmidt of the New York Times. “According to two people familiar with his remarks, Mr. Biden confided to his inner circle as recently as late last year that he thought former President Donald J. Trump was a threat to democracy and should be prosecuted.”
“The president has expressed his dissatisfaction to Mr. Garland in private, but he has never spoken to him directly. Instead, he has stated that he wishes Mr. Garland would behave more like a prosecutor who is prepared to move swiftly to address the events of January 6,” the statement continued.
Since the story was published, four prosecutors have indicted the former president on 91 charges and have him facing 717.5 years behind bars.
Last week, a reporter asked the president if he believed that Trump was an insurrectionist.
The reporter asked, “Is Trump an insurrectionist, sir?”
“I believe it to be self-evident,” the president declared. “We’ll let the Court decide whether or not the Fourteenth Amendment applies.”
Despite the fact that the past president has never been accused of rebellion, the president stated, “But he certainly supported an insurrection.” “There is no doubt about that. Not one. None at all.
It happened after Colorado’s Supreme Court barred Trump from appearing on the state’s primary ballot.
Newt Gingrich, a Fox News contributor and former Republican Speaker of the House, thinks that the United States may suffer greatly as a result of the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling to prevent former President Donald Trump from running for office.
When the former Speaker visited the Fox News programme “The Ingraham Angle,” he discussed more than just the 2024 election.
