JUDGE SET TO OVERTURN TRUMP’S VERDICT DUE TO SOME “ERRORS”

June 4, 2024

Professor of constitutional law and legal expert Jonathan Turley stated that there are grounds for an easy reversal on “procedural and constitutional” grounds in the wake of former President Donald Trump’s guilty conviction in his hush money trial.

Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts by the jury. But Turley and other legal experts have been pointing out for weeks that the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case was built on false accusations, and that Trump’s defence was being seriously hampered by presiding Judge Juan Merchan, possibly in violation of the Constitution.

Turley said that this might present Trump with a strong appeals case.

Turley stated, “It would be impossible to sustain this verdict and there’s so many problems, so many errors that were committed by judge Merchan but we may have to wait a bit.” “Very few of us outside of Manhattan have a lot of faith in the legal system right now and the former president may have rough sledding on the first level of appeal and after that, some of the glaring errors will go in front of the Supreme Court,” Turley said in an interview with Fox’s Larry Kudlow.

“Last one, Jonathan, and you’re always so great,” Kudlow inquired. Your writing is excellent. I perused it within The Hill. There are several grounds for optimism regarding the outcome of the Trump appeal in the Alvin Bragg case. Do you still hold that opinion? “Yes, I do. Look, not many of us outside of Manhattan think highly of the New York legal system at this time. Additionally, the former president might face difficulties at the first level of appeal, but Turley predicted that some of these obvious mistakes would become more noticeable for judges.
