KEVIN MCCARTHY LAUNCHES IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY INTO AG MERRICK GARLAND

July 19, 2023

Following shocking whistleblower testimony that the top US attorney obstructed the investigation into first son Hunter Biden, Speaker Kevin McCarthy suggested on Sunday that the House might open an impeachment investigation into Attorney General Merrick Garland.

“If the whistleblowers’ allegations are true, this will be a significant part of a larger impeachment inquiry into Merrick Garland’s weaponization of the DOJ,” he continued.

The California Republican’s warning follows devastating IRS whistleblower testimony in which it was claimed that Justice Department officials obstructed the investigation into Hunter Biden’s tax evasion.

On Thursday, the testimony of two IRS agents who had come forward with information was made public: supervisory agent Gary Shapley and an anonymous agent.

According to that evidence, Delaware US Attorney David Weiss, who led the federal investigation into the first son, planned to charge the younger Biden last year in the Central District of California and in Washington, DC.

The statement noted that Shapley was one of the witnesses and added that U.S. Attorney David Weiss had informed six witnesses in a meeting on October 7, 2022, at the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office that he lacked the ability to file charges in other districts and had so requested special counsel status.

Garland earlier informed Congress that Weiss was informed that he “had full authority” in the Hunter Biden issue when he was questioned about it.

Garland stated during questioning before Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) that if Weiss wanted to accuse 53-year-old Biden of something that was outside of his area, “he would have to bring the case in another district” and he “will have full authority to do that.”

Shapley also cited a WhatsApp conversation Hunter sent to Henry Zhao, a member of the Chinese Communist Party, on July 30, 2017, in which Hunter threatened Zhao and told him to follow his “orders” while claiming his father was with him. Shapley claims he voiced concerns to DOJ prosecutors about the WhatsApp message, but they dismissed them.

The whistleblower claims that Hunter threatened a Chinese Communist Party official in a WhatsApp chat, hinting that his father would make sure he would be punished if he did not comply with the vague demand.

“We must resolve these glaring discrepancies in order to get to the facts. The House Judiciary Committee needs answers from U.S. Attorney David Weiss, McCarthy, 58, tweeted.
