Numerous people have signed a petition calling for the arrest and imprisonment of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

This week, Fauci was once more accused of “lying under oath” on his awareness of the risky virus research being conducted in China that is thought to be the root of the pandemic.
Republican senator from Kentucky Rand Paul asked for an inquiry into whether Dr. Fauci, 82, lied during his testimony before a Senate committee in 2021 in a letter he sent last week to Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Paul noted in the committee room that Fauci “stated that the NIH has never and does not currently fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology” at the hearing in July.
The maximum sentence for the federal crime of perjury is five years in jail. Fauci was aware of the gain-of-function occurring in the lab, as evidenced by the emails, but he never acknowledged it.
Gain-of-function research involves genetically modifying a virus to make it more lethal or contagious in an effort to beat any potential natural mutations.
