TOP REPUBLICAN FILES LAWSUIT AGAINST RASHIDA TLAIB & ILHAN OMAR FOR INCITING INSURRECTION

October 28, 2023

On Thursday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene dealt a Democratic lawmaker a harsh dose of self-discipline when she filed a motion to censure her for allegedly instigating a “insurrection.”

The Georgia Republican filed her motion against Rep. Rashida Tlaib, citing a number of social media posts made by the Michigan Democrat in support of Palestinians and critical of the Israeli government following the surprise attack on the Jewish state earlier this month by Hamas militants backed by Iran and Palestine, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,400 people.

In remarks on the House floor on Thursday morning, Greene declared that he was facing a censure motion for “antisemitic activity, sympathising with terrorist organisations, and leading an insurrection at the United States Capitol Complex,” according to NBC News.

Greene went on, “Tlaib has demonstrated her hatred for Israel and her antisemitic beliefs. She also led a pro-Hamas uprising into the Capitol complex.”

The source also said:

Greene called the October 18 gathering at the Capitol, which called for an end to the Israel-Hamas conflict, an uprising. Hundreds of protestors broke into the Cannon House office building during the event, prompting the U.S. Capitol Police to temporarily seal the facility’s entrance. A total of 300 demonstrators were reportedly taken into custody by Capitol Police, three of whom were accused of attacking a police officer.

To the best of their knowledge, everyone passed through security and entered the building appropriately, according to a Capitol Police spokeswoman. The Senate and House offices are open to the public, however visitors must be screened by magnetometers beforehand.

Greene’s move is a privileged resolution, which means that it needs to be voted on in two legislative days according to House rules. However, a vote won’t take place until at least next week because the chamber isn’t scheduled to meet again until next Wednesday.

The lone member of Congress with Palestinian ancestry, Tlaib, did not join the boisterous demonstration in the Capitol, according to a person with direct knowledge of the situation. Nonetheless, she spoke to the protesters during a gathering outside the Capitol.

Tlaib described Greene’s resolution as “deeply Islamophobic” and claimed that it “attacks peaceful Jewish anti-war advocates” in a statement released on Thursday.

“I am honoured to join Jewish peace activists in demanding an end to the hostilities and a ceasefire. She said, “I refuse to be silenced, I refuse to be dehumanised, and I refuse to be bullied.” “I will not stop calling for a humanitarian aid delivery immediately, a truce, the liberation of hostages and those wrongfully imprisoned, and for every American to be brought home.”

“I will continue to work for a just and lasting peace that upholds the human rights and dignity of all people, and ensures that no person, no child has to suffer or live in fear of violence,” she added.

Several lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle have been critical of Tlaib and other far-left members of the so-called “Squad” over their claims that Israel was responsible for targeting a hospital in Gaza last week that killed hundreds.

“Intelligence, according to Israeli and American officials, suggests that the explosion was most likely caused by a Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket that misfired and disintegrated after the engine failed,” NBC News claimed.

Along with eight other House Democrats, Tlaib declined to back a resolution denouncing Hamas for its onslaught on Israel, which left over a thousand people dead and at least 200 Israelis held captive.
