Some have questioned if it would be good for the party to select someone else to be president given the recent polls’ unfavourable assessments of President Joe Biden and the Democrats.
Nearly three-quarters of Americans, including half of Democrats, are dissatisfied with the way the country is taking, according to a new Fox News poll.
That source states:
72% of voters are unsatisfied overall. Only five times has that number been greater, and only twice in the past 18 months. When the topic was first posed in a Fox survey in 2009, a record 79% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, while it reached 75% last summer (August 2022).
Since President Joe Biden’s administration began in April 2021, when 53% of people felt that way, the current level of unhappiness has increased by almost 20 points.
This pessimistic outlook is shared by Democrats as well, with 49% expressing dissatisfaction, an increase of 29 points since Biden took office. 83% of independents are unhappy, an increase of 18 points. Republican dissatisfaction is at a record high 92%, up 8 points.
With 58 percent of respondents citing increasing costs as an emergency, inflation was a major concern.
Other problems also played a part, with the opioid epidemic coming up at 52 percent, crime and the border at 48 percent, climate change at 39 percent, and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine at 34 percent.
With funds that would only last them a month or less, more than one-third of survey participants claimed they were living paycheck to paycheck.
53 percent of respondents, including 66 percent of those making $50,000 or less annually, said they could only survive for three months or less on their savings, while 22 percent, up from 12 percent in 2021, said they could survive for a year or more. “These numbers tell the story of an increasing economic divide in America,” Democratic pollster Chris Anderson from Beacon Research said.
Despite their high income levels, 53% of people have put off making a significant purchase due to high borrowing rates. Women (59%) and Hispanic voters (65%) as well as those under 35 (68%) are among those most likely to have postponed purchasing a home or a car due to high rates, the report stated.
64 percent of respondents to the survey said that President Biden is out of touch, and 59 percent said the same about former President Donald Trump. The respondents do not think that officials in positions of authority understand their circumstances.
And a staggering 80% of people, including Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, expressed the same opinion on Congress.
The poll showed that 60 percent disapprove of the job being done by Democrats in Congress, and 66 percent disapprove of Congressional Republicans.
As for the president, 58 percent disapprove of the job he is doing, and only 41 percent approve.
“More than 6 in 10 disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy: 37% approve, while 62% disapprove. While that’s net negative by 25 points, it’s a big improvement since last summer when he was underwater on the economy by 38 points (June 2022),” the report said.
